The building dates back to the 14th century and retains much of its original character, with exposed wooden beams and a cozy fireplace. The pub serves a range of delicious food and drink, including local ales and ciders, and is a popular spot for both locals and visitors alike.

Sandygate itself is a lovely village, surrounded by rolling hills and countryside. There are plenty of walking and cycling routes in the area, as well as several other historic pubs and attractions to explore. Just a short drive away is the city of Exeter, with its stunning cathedral, Roman walls, and vibrant shopping and dining scene.
