Make more of the journey

Explore South-east Cambridge & the local area

South-east Cambridge offers a useful mix of open-air and indoor visits. Wandlebury gives you paths and countryside, Duxford focuses on aircraft and the people behind them, and the University Botanic Garden offers a plant-filled city outing. Plan a separate route to each destination; this stop is not central Cambridge parking.

Wandlebury Country Park

Country paths & a picnic break

Wandlebury offers space for an outdoor break on the south-east side of Cambridge. The park’s own visitor information includes paths, picnic options and pop-up refreshments. Check conditions and café availability before visiting; an outdoor outing need not depend on a café being open.

Visitor information

IWM Duxford

Aircraft collections & hangars

Duxford is a substantial aviation visit, with aircraft and exhibits spread through its hangars. If this is your main outing, give it time rather than treating it as a quick detour. Check tickets and the day’s programme, particularly when flying events are scheduled.

Visitor information

Cambridge University Botanic Garden

Plants, gardens & seasonal interest

The Botanic Garden offers a quieter focus for a visit to Cambridge, with living plant collections and changing seasonal displays. Admission is ticketed, and the garden has its own visitor entrances and access guidance. Plan suitable transport or parking for the city visit separately.

Visitor information

Food, shops & everyday essentials

Wandlebury lists pop-up cafés on selected days, subject to weather and availability. At Cambridge University Botanic Garden, the Garden Café is another option during a visit, but normal garden admission is required to reach it. Check arrangements before relying on either for a meal.
