About the Pub 🍺
The Swan Inn, located in Low Street, Hoxne (postcode IP21 5AS), is a historic 15th-century timber-framed Grade II listed pub built in 1480, reputedly the former home of the Bishop of Norwich. It features two separate bars, a large restaurant, and two large open fires plus a wood burner during winter months. The pub has a large garden backing onto the river and is close to the historic site where King Edmund, the last Saxon king of East Anglia, was killed by the invading Danes. It has a colourful past, once serving as a bishop’s lodge and later a whorehouse. The Swan Inn is dog friendly and popular with walking groups, and it won the Mid-Anglia CAMRA branch North Suffolk Pub of the Year award in 2017. The pub serves four regular ales with no changing beers.
