It was originally a drover’s alehouse, serving livestock drovers traveling to markets at Wrexham. The inn retains many original features such as oak beams, brassware, and open log fires, creating a warm and traditional atmosphere. It is known for its distinctive cellar, carved from local country rock, where cask ales are kept in excellent condition and sometimes served straight from the cask in traditional two and three pint jugs. The pub also has rich local folklore including ghost stories and legends linked to Owain Glyndwr’s visits.
