Gorran Haven Car Park Overnight Stop — Seaside Overnight Parking at £8 Per Night, South Cornwall
📍 Canton, Gorran Haven, St Austell, Cornwall, PL26 6JG
About this Motorhome Stop
At just £8 per night, the privately-owned car park at Gorran Haven is one of the cheapest legally-permitted overnight motorhome stops in Cornwall — a county where even basic campsites regularly charge £35 or more in summer. The car park sits close to the centre of this unspoilt south Cornish fishing village, and while the surface slopes (levelling blocks are strongly recommended), it is an officially permitted overnight stop in one of the Roseland Peninsula’s most genuinely unspoilt coastal settlements.
The kiosk is open from 09:30 to 17:30 and payment is made during staffed hours. Public toilets are a short 200-yard walk away. There are no motorhome-specific service facilities on site — you’ll need to be fully self-contained or plan a services stop elsewhere. But the location is exceptional: Gorran Haven’s tiny harbour, beach and traditional cottage-lined lanes are all within a minute’s walk, and the South West Coast Path sets off directly from the village.
One crucial note: do not attempt to drive further into Gorran Haven with a large motorhome — the lanes narrow dramatically beyond the car park and the village is not navigable by larger vehicles. Arrive, park, and explore entirely on foot. Mevagissey is 4 miles north, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are 5 miles inland.

Things to Do Nearby (Within 5 Miles)
A quintessential Cornish cove — a small, sheltered sandy beach protected by a modest stone breakwater, lined with traditional fishermen’s cottages. The beach shelves gently, the water is clear, and it remains far less visited than nearby Mevagissey even in peak season. Free to access. Adjacent to car park.
One of the finest headland walks on the entire South West Coast Path runs from Gorran Haven around the Dodman — the largest headland in Cornwall at 114 metres — offering panoramic views across Gerrans Bay and Falmouth Bay. The Dodman Cross, a remarkable 19th-century devotional granite cross, stands at the very tip. Free. Starts directly from the village.
One of Britain’s most celebrated garden restoration projects — 200 acres of Victorian walled gardens, subtropical jungle valley, working kitchen gardens and wild woodland trails, reclaimed from decades of neglect. Rated 4.7 on TripAdvisor from over 8,000 reviews. Entry charges apply. Approx. 5 miles north.
Cornwall’s best-preserved working fishing harbour — a labyrinth of narrow lanes, double-walled inner and outer harbour, independent galleries, fish restaurants and pasty shops. The village has changed little in two centuries and feels entirely genuine. Rated 4.5 on TripAdvisor. Approx. 4 miles north.
The world-famous biome complex in a former clay pit — home to the largest indoor rainforest in the world and a Mediterranean biome displaying the plants of southern Europe and the Canary Islands. Rated 4.5 on TripAdvisor from over 18,000 reviews. Entry charges apply. Approx. 12 miles north.
